About

There is a saying “Jack of all trades, master of none.” It’s a phrase that resonates with me, as I have more interests than I have time to pursue, and I have a rolling set of hobbies and projects that keep my interest at any given time.

I have a love/hate relationship with the church; and I have staked my theological home in the Anabaptist tradition I grew up in. We are a peaceful lot who prize humility, simplicity, and servitude. We try to take Jesus at his word, in particular the sermon on the Mount. I believe Christian Nationalism is a black eye on the resurrection and a slap in the face of a loving God.

I studied Social Work at Eastern Mennonite University, theology at Eastern Mennonite Seminary, became ordained in the Ohio Conference of Mennonite Church USA, and more recently completed coursework to earn my Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing through Lindenwood University. I have earned paychecks as a house painter, a grocery store employee, an appliance technician, a campus postal worker, a handyman, a janitor, a milkman, an office supply associate, a pastor, a social worker, an international student officer, a counselor, and a hospice chaplain.

I love what fire can do, I love good food, good coffee, and good conversations. I enjoy my life, though I wish I had more time for what I love. If any of this sounds like you and I might have something in common, I hope you’ll stick around here and become known to me if you’re not already.
